Manatee Sighting

Beach Fanatic
We were out surfing some baby waves this past Sunday when some guy started yelling & pointing. Of course, we turned to look and there was a giant black shadow coming right towards us. For a split second, we were afraid. Then, the shadow was in front of us and it raised its head up - and lo and behold it was a manatee - whew - what a relief. We've heard people say they have seen them, but this was our first sighting - it was pretty special - just thought we would share. Wish we would have had the camera but no such luck. Maybe next time. :D

Yes,
It was a real treat - especially since it was my birthday weekend : )

Well, there you go. I knew those Manatees were sweet animals. What a great birthday gift!!! :clap_1:

My hubby saw another one yesterday afternoon at the mouth of the bay and intercoastal!!! :clap_1: I miss them every time!! :idontno:

Are they doing some special migration right now? Is it because of the June grass / seawood in the water? Just curious why there seem to be so many sightings. Used to live in this area about 15 years ago, moved back about 3 years ago and up until last year, we thought they were more down around the Crystal River area. Can't believe we never saw one before.
