Miss Lucille's Gossip Parlor - RIP

Miss Lucille's has been sold and is being renovated. We hope the new owners have as much fun as we did.

While we sold Miss Lucille's almost ten years ago, we still have very fond memories of our time in the parlor and the friends we made along the way.

She will be missed!

Miss Lucille lives!

At least the painting that we commissioned Billie Gaffrey to paint for us.

Any ideas how to best to preserve this masterpiece?

If it's canvas never put it under glass. It looks like the frame is in pretty good shape. If the back is covered make sure it has several slits in the paper to allow moisture to pass through easily.

If it needs cleaning either take it to someone who knows what they are doing i.e. Bay Art & Frame over in St. Andrews. If it's acrylic then you can clean it with water and very soft towel.

The most obvious yet overlooked item is to keep it out of direct sunlight if at all possible. Don't be fooled by UV glass you never use glass on canvas.

Thanks for those tips.

It is acrylic on plywood and yes, the frame is in good shape.

I was really asking more about how to utilize the painting than to actually preserve it. If there was a 30a museum, it would deserve a place of honor. But alas, there is none.

Any other ideas?

Tommy
