Mr. Blue just announced....

New posts
Soooo... could you afford to live in your nice house in a beautiful spot in SoWal? What kind of work could you do in the area if you needed two incomes? Seems that the place to start would be a budget if you really wanted to do this... dreams can come true. Would most likely mean some trade-offs, but it seems like you have skills that can be used through the Internet...

(PS: My goal for about 6 years years from now would be to teach online from the beach... of course, that depends on whether kids go to public or private college...)

That's what I love about you, Paula...you're so Can Do. :clap_1:
I have no doubt I could find work in the area doing what I do (graphics/media/web/etc). As could he. But I'm still convinced he's bluffing. I'm just enjoying listening to him talk like this. It's fun to ponder possibilities.

Katie........................hurry up and start packing BEFORE he changes his mind!!! I could see you being very happy living by the sea

He's so bluffing. How could he possibly make a living as a coastal musician when the man has sworn a blood oath to never play a Jimmy Buffet song? (:lolabove: And I'm not kidding, either.) Then of course there's The Cat.

Life is a curious obstacle course, isn't it?

My husband makes a living as a coastal (and touring) musician and has never played a Jimmy Buffet song - go for it!!!! The area needs more great musicians anyway. I know of two couples around your husband's age that have moved down. One husband is playing non-stop and the other couple plays together and are getting booked more and more. I don't think Buffet is in their repertoire either. Come on down!!!

Probably right on the bluff. Get into the rare air of high end S/W dev, it's love / hate. Love the craft, hate the lowlifesumbastiles making a living making your living misrable with drivel. (hmmm, maybe chunk of lyrics for new non-buffet coastal song ? ;-) Like drink for a drunk, hard to stop  I think about chuck-it-all and live in a beach hut 'bout every week.

(BTW - my forty-fling was with a cute little Shadow - the two-wheeled kind ;-))

kb, i'm just waiting for mr. dd to say something even remotely like this! I'd be packed so fast and have the house sold that his head would be spinning! heck, i could even shuck an auto and a lot of this crap i've been collecting for years.

Get packing, girl and go for it! Life is too short!

My 40s fling was to have two babies around that time... so I'm still waiting for my midlife crisis and looking forward to it.

me too! (one baby)... think I'll skip the crisis.

but, seriously, I think Mr. Tootsie and I had a mutual mid-life crisis in our early 30's, sold the house in Gainesville, quit our jobs and hauled a$$ to Europe for a summer, then moved to the great Northwest FLA to begin again (we were homeless for several months). with no kids, its very do-able.

Paula is right - just think about how to work it out, then go out and make your dream come true.

...yesterday that he thinks he's having a "mid life crisis." He says he wants to quit his software job, sell everything and hit the road with his keyboard (and me)
Y'all need a roadie?
