I was telling Canoehead about Mountainfilm, specifically Mustang (her family is from Nepal) and she said that it is no longer its own little kingdom.

Apparently it is now just part of Nepal - they got rid of the monarchy in Oct 2008.

Didn't realize how tiny it was - only 80km x 45km with only 9,000 residents!

Hm, that is pretty interesting. That is an area of the world I definitely want to visit and learn more about their culture, etc.

It is a very cool region. My best friend is a "Nepal people" and they have some unique customs that are a constant source of entertainment and interest to my family and friends.

I have been promised a sari as my bridesmaid dress someday - so much better than some hideous strapless taffeta!
