Because they can. Obviously, you have never been to Lake Lanier. They have these things lined up left and right, most well over $1 M. Those people don't know that the Gulf exists.

Some of those same people spend over $1.5M for a bus, too.

Lanier, the boats, the lake houses, and the houseboats/cabin cruisers are unreal in terms of big $$. Big boats and big money. A lot of the same money that has and is being spent down in Destin and SoWal. Just heard the other week on the radio that Atlanta and the surroundinig area is home to a reported 49,000 millionaires.

Gainesville, GA is filled with the M'aires and these big boy toys. Most of them have at least 2 SeaDoos and a slide hanging off the back deck.

Lake Cumberland, KY.
Friend of mine was on a very well heeled fellow's substantial HB (on Cumberland) several weeks ago - dang thing would dock itself! Apparently drive the blamed thing within 20-30 yards of the dock, enable the appropriate set of sensors (side, bow, etc.), mash a couple of buttons and poof!

Said that was a component of a larger integrated "collision avoidance" system designed to keep from running aground or into something substantial. Imagine trying to pull the old ski boat up to that righ with the system enabled - pull close, HB crabs away from you. :floor:

My MD in ATL used to jokingly say that he depended on my infertility problem to pay for his lifestyle at Lake Lanier. I love him (he helped us get one child), so I laughed. But actually it's not funny on many levels.
