My trip report

New posts
Allifunn, I finally got around to reading your trip report....awesome!! So proud of you for just going for it like that. I can't wait to get back to Italy, it makes me cry too. Every little thing you see was invested with an aesthetic beauty, from the most elaborate buildings to simple things like walls, benches, the way the street stones were laid...everything. There's so much emotion and life force in the air, and it's hard to understand what that really means until you go there and see and feel it for yourself. Even my (stoic) husband shed tears.

Can't wait to go to Positano, sounds great. But then, almost every town we went to was special. I fell in love with a tiny town in the Valle d'Orcia area of tuscany called San Quirico. Just an authentic little slice of Italian life, ladies sweeping their flowered stoops, freshly laundered sheets flapping in the breeze, nattily dressed old men clicking their canes down the cobblestone streets carrying fresh bread, 1000-year old little chapels in the middle of town. !!! It just has to be experienced at some time.

It may be years before I can afford to go again, but I am so certain I will return that I continue to study italian a few hours a week. Use it or lose it, I'm finding, gotta stay on it. Wow, to think Paula's there right now, too!

:clap_1: what a great trip!!! it certainly does bring back memories of visiting some of these places, and it renews my desire to go back and back and back. I know there is much more of the world to see... but I just want Italia, and all of it...

Allifunn - you have made your dream come true! and inspired many. good for you!

Great trip report, Allifunn! I just got back from my trip to Italy and will post the trip report soon, but I wanted to read about your trip as my first SoWal reading. Now I REALLY want to do a cruise like that someday -- maybe even the same one that you did because it sounded so wonderful.

Sooooo, what new foods/drinks did you try that you liked? Food and drink will be a big part of my trip report!

Hope we cross paths in the fall.

Yippee! Paula's back!! Can't wait to read your report!!:clap_1:

Welcome home!! I can't wait to hear all about your trip!
No real culinary experiences....mine were emotional experiences and feasting of the eyes and soul!
