It's a teen flick...most won't like/get it.

Well...I'm not a teen and I thought it was flippin hilarious. I am 26. Many of my friends aged 25-30 also loved it. It totally depends on your sense of humor. The movie is completely dumb...but what makes me laugh so much is that they are totally serious about the way they live. I mean, did you see the unicorns and stuff on Napoleon's shirts? That is too funny. Kip was so funny when he went to that karate class too. Seriously...I could go on all day.

I think you have to watch it twice to really appreciate it. :) Hehehehe.

I don't think ND was pointed towards any one demographic. Lots of twentysomethings favor it, but I went to ND because my sister-in-law recommended it--she and I last saw our teens and twenties many many years ago. There were all different ages in the audience.

ND was fine for a chuckley first indie film but to me it did not reach the laugh out loud heights of Caddyshack let alone a Monty Python or Coen movie.
And it will be interesting to see how it ages with time.

Comedies with staying power:

Bringing Up Baby Monty Python's Life of Brian

Some Like It Hot Blues Brothers

The Producers A Christmas Story

Blazing Saddles Big

Animal House The Princess Bride

Revenge of the Nerds Airplane

Babe Office Space

edited to add:
I laugh hysterically at Curb Your Enthusiasm, Team America and South Park, but their humor is not exactly PC, let alone PG-13.

Most all new releases are aimed at the young demographic. That's you're average moviegoer. I was just trying to put a quick label on it.

You forgot Cheech and Chong's Up in Smoke. That really cracks me up. "Low Rider" ... the first song I heard on the radio when I picked up my first Mercedes - I flipped out!

BTW as I've said before, I love Napoleon Dynamite, and I'm 55. I also listen to hip-hop (love the anger and the beat), but Kurt has already chided me for that - LOL.

While it is not Napolean Dynamite, City of God is perhaps one of the best made movies I have ever seen. FYI- it does have sub-titles, so it requires active participation.

It's not exactly escapist comedy fare, but City of God certainly is a really good film. I made sure my sons saw it (to balance out any lasting effects from Napoleon Dynamite.) :)

Vote for Pedro.
When I was running the Peachtree this AM, someone actually had on a "Vote for Pedro" t-shirt. It made me smile. But being back here at the beach tonight makes me smile more. :)
