National debt soars to highest level since WWII

From this USA Today Story

The federal debt will represent 62% of the nation's economy by the end of this year, the highest percentage since just after World War II, according to a long-term budget outlook released today by the non-partisan Congressional Budget Office.

...

At the end of 2008, the debt equaled about 40 % of the nation's annual economic output, according to the CBO.

I am a cut-spending, balance-the-budget, eliminate-the-debt, lower-taxes guy, but I am concerned that massive cuts right now will hasten the arrival of the second dip.

OTOH, the besides the Census jobs, the Congress and the Administration have done little or nothing to create lasting jobs for the economy. Most of the bail out went to Wall Street and larger manufacturers who's primary focus is the reduction or relocation off-shore of jobs.

Yet, the administration keeps telling us that "it's working", "we've created 400,000 jobs" (temp census jobs, that is), and other statements that are contradicted by actual performance. Sometimes poor Obama looks as bad as Bagdad Bob did when he was telling the Iraqis that the infidels were being crushed at the gates of the city as Abrams tanks rolled across the screen behind him.

I would give anything for any leader, regardless of affiliation, to have the cahones to just man up and say "it's effin bad out there and not getting better just yet." I'm tired of big government telling us what's good for us despite all indicators pointing the other way. I'm tired of being told it's rain when somebody is peeing on my back.

BTW...I'm paraphrasing above so you find your own sources...

"I'm tired of being told it's rain when somebody is peeing on my back."

OMG that's hilarious. So true too.

In 2008, when we realized Obama was going to be our next President, we got behind him. "We," being many people I know. McCain wasn't my pick, but certainly neither was Obama.

OK, you can fix this, let's go.........I don't care who fixes this, just get it done. When I noticed the cross countenance and threats directed across the aisle, I knew 'it' wasn't going to be fixed. Surprisingly, he's done little and while many will debate this with 'he's working on many things from his campaign promises,' I personally prefer a President who takes action, not continued frowns and idle speeches of hope and change.

Right now, I like "Made in Taiwan." Get that behemoth here poste haste!

If we don't institute massive cuts, are we on the long dirty road to increased socialism? You're right FBB, but I'd rather go through the pain now than prolong it another several years. Because 'it' ain't fixed and 'it' ain't working.
