Me and Mr. BR both got shirts. It was his first Peachtree. He wasn't healthy enough to attempt it before his heart valve replacement and aortic aneurysm repair (now he has three inches of Dacron as his ascending aorta). We are thankful for good surgeons at Duke University.gotothebeachmom said:Soooo.... Did ya get the shirt?

It was a nightmare. The surgery took longer than expected. He was on heart-lung for 8 hours. I passed out in the waiting room from anxiety, and they had to medicate me. Our daughter just couldn't deal with waiting at the hospital, and the first time she saw him in the hospital room, she passed out. So we flew her back to Atlanta from Durham so she wouldn't have to deal with it. Actually I passed out several times in the lobby of Duke Hospital from stress. He was so out of it for weeks that it was scary - the oxycodone for pain made him hallucinate.jdarg said:Valve AND aorta? Wow- he is a tough nut. That aneurysm surgery is a bear. I love hearing about medical successes! That must've been a long haul for you both.
