Twelve years after the legendary Capo's closed on the corner of 393 and W. County 30A, construction on that long-vacant lot has begun on a new (according to the sign) "Bar/Restaurant/Package Store - Coming Soon in 2017." Anyone know who the new owner is and/or what kind of restaurant/bar is planned?

There's been talk over the years about building a place there. There was a high price on the lot. The county wasn't willing to pay what the owner wanted for the lot so it could be used for beach parking. Talk recently has been about the owner working with one or more current/recent local restaurant owners to plan and operate the new place. They aren't ready to talk about it yet. One option rumored is the return of Smiling Fish. I would expect whatever it is it will not be upscale but more along the lines of 723 Whiskey Bravo, Stinky's, AJ's, etc ...

Thanks for the info. Construction is well under way and there is a relatively large artist's rendition of what the new building will look like. Plus, signs are posted for the architect, engineering firm, as well as design management. It says : "Bar/Restaurant/Package Store. - Coming Soon in 2017". Seems like the concept is set in stone and the project is proceeding.

Need to check definition of upscale....Stinky's, AJ's upscale? How about Cafe 30A, Cafe Tango, George's, Fish out of water..etc.
