Is there another Sowal where all the streets are paved w/ gold that I am unaware of? The one I've been living in for years has a comparable cost of living to most of the US!

Yes, housing costs are obviously higher as you get close to 30-A, but there are still a variety of housing options available.

Paying for their own gas/vehicles and using their own time to drive to work might be the incentive they need to live closer to their chosen job!

Hon, they choose to work as a deputy sheriff. They do not choose the zone that they are assigned to.

That being said, I can't think of any patrol officers who live in SoWal or Freeport that are assigned to patrol extreme NoWal. All the ones I know (and I'll be the first to admit I don't know them all) work in Freeport or points south. There just are not enough to cover all zones, all shifts.

Oh...and it is less expensive to live in NoWal. I've done it, and the thought of doing it again crossed my mind briefly when I opened my TRIM notice. But I'd miss my sunsets and I would absolutely NEVER get to work - or get Squirt to school - on time. :violin:

I'm sure it is less expensive to live in Norwal, but people act like you can't live in Sowal if you aren't a millionaire, when it actually is comparable to most of the US.

Good old fashioned cutting back should be in order instead of raising taxes. Keep staff salaries the same, with raises as usual and cut back on anything else possible.

The County Commission, however, should look at planning and zoning and determine why we are paying $5,000,000 per budget year, while Bay and Okaloosa have half the budget Walton does. Planning and Zoning is unaffective, biased and plain inefficient, I would support a complete house cleaning there.

While you are at thiis, I think the Planning Commission should be looked at as well. Unless I misunderstand, some of those Commissioners have been on there for eons. Yeah, I know they are appointed by BCC Commissioners. BCC Commissioners, are you listening? New blood wouldn't hurt.

You are right on!!! There was one member appointed about 6 months ago, and I think it's a start towards a positive change.
