New Year's Eve in SoWal?

New posts
Last year our party went to Marina Cafe for dinner and then came back to Sandestin for the fireworks at midnight. Marina was great as usual. The fireworks at Baytowne were incredible. They fired them off directly over the lagoon so they seemed almost right over the Village. It was very loud and a great way to celebrate the New Year.

I'd be happy to do it again, but MrsSvelte wanted to try something different. So this year we've reserved a seating at Cafe Provence (http://www.cafeprovenceusa.com/). They have a prie-fixe menu at 8:00pm and another seating at 10:00pm. We'll still head back to the Village for the fireworks.

FYI If you do come to Sandestin for the fireworks, come early as parking is limited around the Village. If you come late, I recommend that you park near Security and take the bay shuttle over to the landing.

You might want to get a copy of their menu for NYE. We ate there a few years ago and if you are the least bit picky, you might end up not enjoying some of the selections. IMO, I like to have a choice of at least two selections per course. There was much liver that night.

Liver! On New Year's Eve? Maybe they are figuring if you eat a big ol' plate of liver, it will help your own liver after you drink too much on NYE! Yuck!

It was unbelieveable, I do not eat liver of any kind! Poor Mr. Kitty ended up listening to me keep saying..."FTLOG, I think they have used every liver available in Walton County!!" The best part of the evening came when a male guest sat back down in his chair and it fell apart and down he went....I hate to admit that I had tears coming down my face once we knew he was okay!! I am a bad kitty sometimes!!!

Was is foie gras, or cow liver? There is a big difference, and those French do love their foie gras (as does someone else I know whom I see in the mirror everyday). Maybe the restaurant received a big discount on buying the liver. sounds gross.

Oh yes, it was foie gras (Mr. Kitty LOVES that), but used in more than one course! I am not dissing their food preparation, only their choice to feed it to folks without a choice! Like, I LOVE escargot, but Mr. K would have skipped that one!!!

Nice dinner out

OK, the talk of Borago yesterday made me think of a question--for a nicer, maybe-get-a-little-dressed-up dinner in SoWal, where do you go? And what do you order there?

Thanks for the tip! We do have a picky eater among us (nothing green, thank you!) so some further due diligence is in order.

wink wink...maybe you can go back to your favorite restaurant now!!!!! I hope to get brave enough to go back and try their regular menu though.
