New York Times Article about SoWal - Congrats Sally's...

New posts
Someone may have posted this already, but here's a New York Times article about the Panhandle, including SoWal, from last Sunday. Sally's got some great press, as did Grayton Beach and a few other places.

We promoted this article on the home page and on SoWal facebook. I liked how the article mentions several under the radar kind of places.

Something I didn't even notice about the article until several people complained about it on fb - the reference to the area as The Redneck Riviera. Hahaha. I just didn't zero in on this sentence at all (at the first part of the article). It is such an old nickname for the entire panhandle but some South Walton peeps don't appreciate it and I guess I can understand that. But, most long time residents just don't care because we know how special and wonderful living here is all about. What's in a nickname anyway? Sometimes nicknames are meant to be silly or funny or just dumb.

Of course, there were parts in the article, as in most articles written by travel writers, that were inaccurate or not really relevant. But, overall, I appreciated the coverage of small, local places all along the panhandle.. and the writer did appreciate the beauty of the coast.
