I stopped to get a quick sub at a local national brand sandwich shop and none of the five employees were wearing masks ( one employee actually looked sick ). I walked out and drove to one of my favorite eateries “The Donut Hole” and all employees were wearing masks and gloves and all of the dining and seating had blue tape, marking the proper social distancing. I have always gone to “The Donut Hole” and always will after seeing how much they care about their customers and employees.

Eat Like A Local
Hi Bob,
I definitely eat like a local, lol! One of the things I’ve done is not only tell tourists where to eat but what dishes are the best to eat! Tourists have called or texted me saying that they took my advice for breakfast, then lunch, then dinner and continued to take the advice of this foodie for their entire stay! Locals know where and what to eat! That’s for sure.
We can definitely make families enjoy their stay to the fullest.

Over the years, some of my favs have disappeared. Like having “The Swamp” at the Blue Orleans or anything for breakfast back when Stinky’s had breakfast in the side building. Our town keeps changing but I live to eat not eat to live.

We enjoy local food at home so it's a natural to eat local around 30A. Nice servers too. Modica, Great Southern, '45 Central', Red Bar/Louis Louis, Café 30A, Basmanti's. Bud & Alley's. Cowgirl Kitchen. La Crema. Stinky's. Chanticleer. Local beer from Publix for souvenirs....Modica too of course. We take food home with us from Modica. Nice to have a taste of the beach a day or two after we have left. Ellen (I can almost remember the main room/bar at the old Shades.) (And B&A with no Tarpon Club.)

OMG La Crema,
My beautiful wife and I had an anniversary lunch that was so unexpectedly fantastic! We are so fortunate to have found this town online of all places, lol. This town has everything we need and love. Even when we’re on the water there’s Reef Burger and Dewey Destins... people that haven’t been here just wouldn’t understand.

Thanks for sharing your Donut Hole news with us. Good to know! Of course we love this beloved restaurant. And I so appreciate all of our outstanding local places. They take good care of us.

I love hearing good news about our restaurants. They are working hard. Let's share the good stuff.

Holy Moly! Eat like a local, die like a local! I believe it was actually “The Swamp Hash”. Eating Gator’s cooking was a slow version of Russian roulette. I once complemented his green beans and asked what he did to them. He looked at me like I was nuts and said “I open da can and den dump ‘em inta da pot”. I do miss his music though, he loved it and it showed! “Da magic”

Hah! He was definitely a character and had a lovely wife. I was just lucky that he liked me! His sense of humor worked for me, lol! I was disappointed when he closed down and I never knew why but that doesn’t matter much. Everything changes.
