My question brings up another. Should the people who apply for beach driving permits also be required to go through a turtle training? Permitted vehicles are allowed on the beach until 10pm, well after dark.

Wow Andy A.- great quote..

I didn't realize that Winston Churchill was your father and considered uneducated
I got the quote from my uneducated but wise father. I neglected to ask him where he got it. We didn't have "Google" then. You had to read and he did know how to do that. Cheers.

I agree. Should be mandatory. Turtles come close to shore before dark and can come ashore anytime after dark. Would hate to see someone run one over cruising the sand. I would think the feds would be all over them.

worth asking about

You may actually have an idea worth pursuing. There's no reason why a short class or mandatory brochure cant be issued to those requesting to drive on the beaches. It should introduce them to the local wildlife and how to help it survive. The beach is a habitat to wildlife that depends on a safe environment. Isnt it our responsibility to provide it some?

Makes sense. We had to sit through a brief "Unexploded Ordinance and You" film in order to get an Eglin rec permit for the first time.

Excellent comments! Might I add a training bit for dog beach permits....here is a leash, here is a collar with a tag and here is a little bag for picking up your dog's poo poo. Have a nice day!
