HI everyone! I along with my sisters are going for T'giving week.It is a group trip (USM's dixie darlings are in Macy's parade) We will be going to a couple of Broadway plays along with other tourist spots. However, I want to do some off beat stuff also.
This is my first trip to the big apple, 2 of my sisters have been there several times. They say i have to see Wicked. I would like your feedback on various shows, as well as things to do and see. I have to tell our guide in the next 2 weeks my selections on the shows.

Please give me your suggestions and ideas. Thanks:wave::wave::wave:

You will absolutely love the City that time of year!! Any show will be fabulous, too. As we used to say, "Even the muggers are festive at Christmas in NYC!" But, don't let that scare you one iota - it's very safe and funn!! I hope you have a blast~~~~~~

what are your choices for the plays? Have you narrowed it down to a few choices?

I love NYC during the holidays. Be sure and save some time in the evening to stroll along Fifth Avenue and see the windows all decorated--it is fabulous. St Patrick's, ice skating at Rockefeller Center...a trip to Ellis Island. One of my favorite places is the United Nations. ..and within the complex, visit the garden and see the Eleanor Roosevelt Memorial in the NE corner of the garden--you have to look for it--also, the gift shop there always has unusual items. Strawberry Fields if you are a John Lennon fan; across from the Dakota Hotel in Central Park. Trinity Church near the 911 site. Any of the museums--I love the Natural History; see something at Lincoln Center--food on 1st Avenue. People watching in Grand Central, the Intrepid Sea-Air-Space museum, Chinatown, Little Italy...a trip on the Staten Island ferry...so much to see and do -- depends upon what you are especially interested in...Have a wonderful time.

I 'm deciding between Wicked,Jersey Boys, La Cage,Memphis maybe Chicago. I'll be going to 2 i think. Everybody lloves WICKED, but I don't know ,never cared for the oz thingy!

Wicked is one of those you may have to see if in NYC. If I could choose a show, my adult pic would be FELA and my fun pic would The Lion King. I could see the Lion King a million times over and never get bored with it. It's also in one of the most beautiful theatres in New York, IMHO. But, if I had to choose between the lot above, it would be Jersey Boys and La Cage. Also, it's been running a long time, but South Pacific is still a crowd pleaser.

thanks for all the comments and links! I welcome all ideas. Mango I 'v missed this one somehow till now (FELA)

I agree with Mango about the Lion King...I loved it! and would see it again and again...and the theater...
I also thoroughly enjoyed Chicago.

I liked Wicked, just was not wowed by it and I love the Wizard of Oz.

It would not be my pick. I agree on the Lion King and Jersey Boys.

If you want to try something Wicked, try the Wicked Hot Chocolate by Jacques Torres, there is a shop on Amesterdam.

For a fabulous view go to the Top of the Rock.
