Obama the Oblivious

New posts
Why are Republicans so upset about the deadline extension for the ACA? Well the answer to that is simple. They know full well that it's gaining strong momentum after a shaky roll out. They know that lots of people are very happy with it. They know it's here to stay and that by November of 2016 the number of enrollees will keep growing. As long as Obama is the President, it will be impossible to repeal even with a Republican majority house and Senate. Even if A Republican wins the presidency in 2016, the law will be so firmly embedded in our system, it will be virtually impossible to repeal. The best that could happen is that it will be improved upon, which is all anyone wants anyway. I see this as a major historic achievement for Obama which will ultimately be of great benefit to our country. The reality is that Republicans are not against government run healthcare. They are against government run healthcare initiated by the current President. If they ever take ownership of the law they will magically STFU.

Beach Runner: Have you heard of a concept called " the loyal opposition"? This is a concept that, it is OK to criticize the President, if you are proposing a concrete and workable alternative, that you think the President should consider. Do you think anybody from the Republican Party has proposed workable alternatives for the Syrian/Ukraine situation or affordable health care? Just asking. All I seem to hear are insults and quotes from a cowboy actor.

Republicans will eagerly send tens of thousands to die in an unjustified war to protect their freedom while contently staying home and living their lives. Ask them to approve the funding of healthcare for millions of Americans who previously couldn't afford it or were uninsurable due to a pre-existing condition because a few Conservatives may pay a bit more or be slightly inconvenienced and now suddenly you've crossed the line.

This is a fake show of concern by Saluki over the situation in the Ukraine. I mean why would he drag ACA into the conversation? We could be debating whether Obama's overall tone in the past on foreign policy has emboldened Putin (wouldn't that be blaming America?). That may or may not be true, but then maybe you could say US policy for the last half century has done the same. Our acts of military aggression have set us up to look like hypocrites if we start complaining about Putin taking a little slice of land. That's why the only useful discussion is, what do we do now? That is unless you just want to vent, which obviously Saluki does. He can spend all day trying to instill buyer's remorse into people who voted for Obama, and I can do the same for anyone who was duped into thinking the Tea Party has any useful and constructive purpose in American politics.

Yes. However there is no requirement that in order to vote, one must be qualified to make decisions for the President. That's his job, with the help of all of the experts who surround him (and hopefully "her" someday).

Where are the scores of people who have lost their insurance, but weren't able to replace it? One or two out of 100,000's doesn't constitute the national emergency that some want to keep making a mountain of.

Many people who need insurance can't afford the premiums of the policies offered by ACA. It should be called the "Unaffordable Care Act."

Why do you keep saying it is unaffordable?
