" Construction on the latest expansion at Okaloosa Regional Airport is expected to begin in October.

Okaloosa County commissioners have awarded a $14.7 million contract to Lord and Son Construction to build a new detached facility that will house the airport?s vehicle rental businesses."

"The airport is currently working on an expansion of its parking apron, where aircraft pick up and drop off travelers. Work on that project started about five months ago and should be complete in August.

The airport also has plans to expand its concourse in hopes of attracting new airlines to Okaloosa County, Stenson said."

Looks like they're trying hard to compete with PNS and the new Bay County airport, and that's got to be a good thing for everyone who flies out or in of any of the airports along the Emerald Coast.

My favorite part of this article:D

American Eagle, an existing carrier at the airport, is adding a new daily nonstop flight to Chicago, starting in September.

?This flight is expected to attract an additional 15,000 passengers to this airport, which is already experiencing record growth,? county Airports Director Jerry Sealy said in a news release.

?Chicago is one of our largest market areas, and this flight will allow for additional choice and convenience for our passengers, whether traveling for business or pleasure.?

They are tryiing hard. They recently raised $75,000.00 to try to entice another airlines to come in. Speculation is they are trying to woo Southwest. That would be GREAT!

I love the new airport terminal, just hope they don't expand too much! Additional flights are great, but I love flying in and out of small regional airports instead of major cities or hubs. IMO the level of cleanliness and service is SO much higher!

If they just hand you the keys or point to the cart $-0-

The beer cart girl? Depends on how good looking she is!! LOL, Just kidding.Just kidding. 20% rounded up to the next $.

No silly, the people who pick you and your luggage up at the long term airport parking area and drive you to the terminal!

I know how much to tip on the golf course!

Silly me!!! Our airport has a place where cars drive up to the door and you put the luggage on the curb.

In that case, $2/bag.
