I remember dippity doo............and also remember my mom always putting Tony perms in my hair.......and having to sleep with those pink sponge rollars on Saturday nite, for Sunday morning church:floor:

I remember this.... then one would come out and you would be unbalanced....i used to be called the girl with ringlets!!!!:floor:

I had really curly hair as a child. It was curly enough on it's own. But apparently, not enough for my mother. She would plop me down and curl it around her finger into freakin' sausage curls! All the way around my head! I looked like some kind of mutated "Shirley Temple" wanna-be!!!!

No wonder I have issues with my mom! :funn:

 @ the toilet paper ..........never heard of that one, and I'll have to check out Sally's or Walgreen's for some pink sponge curlers:floor: WHAT a blast from the past........hehehehe

I know what you mean GTTBM. My mom did the "pin curl" thing with bobbie pins. She curled our hair around her finger real tight and so the curl was at the scalp and secure with bobbie pins. Had to sleep with them in our hair. When we took them out, we looked like Bozo the Clown, but my mom loved our curls.....UGH!

i had totally blocked the pin curls from my mind ! i had hair that was long enough to touch my butt until 5th grade, then i cut it short, and have stayed that way every since. mom used to pin curl my short hair - that was miserable. my hair that is straight and the texture of straw held those curls for approximately 5 minutes, then i looked like i had been mauled.... why were we tortured by our mothers ?

We need thairapy

no kidding ! when i had my long hair it would get so tangled at night from my restless sleeping and my mom would just jerk those knots out in the mornings. we were always late (her fault not mine ) and she didn't have time to be gentle. i am convinced that's why i have not a whole lot of feeling in my scalp - you could pull my hair all day and it wouldn't bother me....

My mom used to roll my hair with socks! I can remember watching Ed Sullivan while she rolled...:floor:

My mom used torn sheets...rags to roll my hair. SO uncomfortable and the wildest curls. Some things are better forgotten

All I remember are Banana curls, but my mother only did them for special occasions.

Ed Sullivan? I thought we were about the same age, 1964-65? I no remember any Ed Sullivan :idontno: At least you got socks in your hair. If we talked while Chico and the Man was on, we got socks in our mouths. :funn:
