Beach Fanatic
WOW. Have you seen that crazy storm on the Atlantic side. Sitting still for days, going from TS to Hurricane to TS and now back to Cat 1 strength. Now it is hovering over the coast of NC and thrashing Wilmington and North to Nags Head and Cape Hatteras. 1-15 inches of rain and that coast line is expected to have her sit there for up to 10 hours in duration before she moves. Very strange storm that will cause alot of damage and flooding in her own right. When I was a kid, we went to Kitty Hawk, Nags Head, Holden Beach, and that area several times. My extended family vacationed in Wilmington/Wrightsville Beach area for 13-15 yrs strait (before as a grown up I found Destin/SoWal) and it is hard to watch this one for me. The fishing pier we used to frequent was torn off its foundation and shown being destroyed this morning on CNN. Bummer. :bang: Noone needs any more stinkin' storms this year. FEMA and insurance companies are going to be shelling out even more $$.

I am sorry to admit that I have been so storm weary that I have paid little attention to O. I did hear the Gov of NC....can't tell if this is what he would have done pre-Katrina, but he had his stuff together! This has been another long drawn affair! It will be gone soon and NC will get it done!!

I remember Hurricane Elena back in '85. It couldn't make up its mind where it wanted to go. It would go back and forth long the gulf coast here, scaring the heck out of everybody. I think it was a Cat 5.
