Wonder if the Sheriff Department will be getting one this year? And how can property taxes be going up when the value is going down? Have not been able to find any of this in the budget hear stuff...

My understanding is no county employees will receive pay increases in spite of the fact that taxes are increasing 14%. I have not heard what they plan to do with the excess money.

Interesting to note that while everyone says no pay raises have been given, there have been significant cuts in staff with no corresponding cut in monthly payroll expense so the dollars must be going somewhere.

But like most of the State both private and public sector, pay is not moving as people are holding on trying to keep persons employed. Feels like you are going backwards though when pay increases are not given, yet taxes go up, insurance goes up, everything seems to be going up, except what you are taking home.

Yes feels like we are going backwards. But yet they are spending money on new SUVS that are not needed at the moment. And all the money that was spent on other thing that were not need just yet or at all. How does one get by with taxes, utililtys, food going up everyday. But what I dont get is no raise in almost 6 yrs the economy has not been bad for 6 yrs.

Actually the sheriff is an independent officer and can pretty much do as he pleases with the money he gets. If my memory serves me correctly I believe the former sheriff received enough money to give raises and used it to build a racetrack. But I am sure if my finances came from that organization I would not care if the money was spent on racetracks or SUV's to drive on it. I would want something in my pocket.

I agree with you on going backwards. They are being punished because of the County Top Dogs. They lost their FAMILY Health Care Coverage that was being paid by us the taxpayers. :roll:

I just love it when folks focus on the Sheriff's employees not getting raises when NONE of the other county or constitutional officer employees have gotten raises for just as many years, if not longer.

And the worst ones to do it are the Sheriff's employees. Including the one who is sitting on my living room sofa, laughing his arse off watching Wipeout.

I was reffering to the Commissioner's about two year ago. It came out that we the taxpayers. Were paying for their Family insurance. At no cost to them.

Oh okay never heard that. But would not much matter the insurance the dept has does not cover much anyway so dont see why we have. Only thing it is good for is routine visits that require no blood or other work. Sad

I would not complain too much about the insurance if I were a county employee. People might find out that employees get insurance at no cost to them while everybody else pays for their crappy coverage. Wait until Obamacare is in full swing and then you too will have the privilege of paying a big price for crappy insurance.

Yes and when brought up that it was not publicly done, Sara Comander immediately stopped hers, the rest kept it until the end of a budget year, except for Commissioner five, she kept hers until commissioner six could get onto something else and let us still pay for it even though it was not in the budget, not approved, nor authorized by the BCC or the budget.

I assume that "commissioner six" is "commissioner five's" spouse. Sounds like a RINO sighting to me.
