I work in the educational sector. None of us have had a pay raise in several years. Rumor has it that we will be forced to have unpaid furlough days. At least I have tenure and a job. New faculty members who were hired on tenure track after 1998 with an 18 semester hour load per academic year are now expected to teach 24 hour loads. Of course that is fair because those of us hired before 1998 were contracted to teach 24 hour loads.
Many executives in the manufacturing sector in Georgia have been offered "voluntary retirements" which means if you don't accept it, you could be fired with no benefits.
