Pest control

Does anyone on the board do their own insect/pest control?
Even with the service I was using, Palmetto bugs would frequently get into my house. I don't know what other kinds of insects the pest service was supposed to be killing. Anyone have advice about whether or not to handle this on your own or a pest management company you recommend.

Phone books and the little round Raid traps.

First is very satisfying, second gets the others.

Home Depot used to carry an effective concentrate but quit carrying the brand that worked for me.

A palmetto bug by any name is still a roach. Ick.

I don't think there is any pest control method for Palmetto bugs. I had one get in our house one night and as it advanced toward me on the ceiling I ran for the Raid. Must have taken 30 seconds of continuous spraying to take that thing down. So they're either really hearty or it was on angel dust.

This is why I prefer the phone book method!

My daughter's kindergarten teacher had a collection of different pointers in the classroom. I made her one of these flip flop pointers (sans bug guts) and it was a huge hit!
