Petition To Protect Soldier Monuments

New posts
certainly looks like a direct comment to me. I'm over the flag issue, everyone has chewed that one to bits and its done. Our county has a new confederate flag. like it or not. I know many people from all over Walton County who support the flag, who don't, and who just don't care because they are working hard and have other matters to deal with. Our county flies a confederate flag and that's it. doesn't matter who started the petition or who signed it or didn't sign it... the issue came forth, as it was bound to, as it also happened in many other southern localities, and it was discussed, voted on, and done - with different outcomes according to the county or local city. end of story. some like the outcome, some do not. we will never all be happy with all decisions. but we do have to move on and look to the future. Discussion on a forum is a way to share ideas and possibly learn. It shouldn't be used as a way to continually argue and divide. Let it go and let good discussion rise to the top.

"your"- used to refer to any person or to people in general- I did change that word to "their" so that you are not personally offended.

It's far from over as you (personally) say and the latest petition is save monuments and memorials is proof positive that this is not going away anytime soon. There is a movement afoot to remove all memorials and monuments because someone is/was "offended".

Ok. So are you signing? When I first saw this, my gut feeling was that this is all about a political stance. But I thought about it and read more before making my decision. I think it's BS. But that's just me.

You also think flying the flag at the courthouse was/is BS so, I'm not surprised by that admission. In fact, its what I expected.

What the... ? I'm not offended. Only stating my opinion on this petition. That's it. Please take your self righteous indignation and anger to someone who enjoys engaging on your level. Not interested. Thank you.
Wow...what an edit. That isn't what you said originally.

I'm not nearly as indignant as most have been over the issue of that flag or these memorials and I certainly don't have the monopoly on who has the superior attitude on them. Ya'll beat me hands down on those issue.

I wouldn't sign a petition to take down all confederate flags. But I don't think they should fly on our public grounds. Still, I leave it to the community to decide. That's my thinking on it.

SoWal is a uniquely beautiful place. I was warned about the surrounds by a Realtor about 15 years ago. He said it's a great beach, but you have to remember where you are. "Every mile off the beach you could roughly calculate a ten point drop in IQ until you crossed the bridge, then all bets were off". He told me northward "a good portion of the population still thought the spirit of the Civil War was still going on." And he we are, it's 2015.

You live an SoWal correct? How often do you come to the County seat to be offended by what is done here? My guess is...you don't because you have an annex nearby.

The Community of North Walton did decide the flag issue.
