Petition To Protect Soldier Monuments

New posts
Bob, if you "go" up against Misty you better buckle up. My bet will be on Misty! Uh Oh, we better move this thread to the sports and recreation. Moving posts is so confusing

Bob please be careful. There may be ghosts in them thar memorials which may hook onto you as you push them overboard...
if any of those sunken memorials mess with me, I'll toss that God awful bowl weevil statue on them from Enterprise. that'll learn em;

Bob, you had the audacity to ask Misty what color she was. I will now use that same audacity to ask you the same question.

we can't change our past, but we can change our thinking. at least some folks can.

The dreaded all controlling "big brother" in concert with the "thought police" trying to control others thoughts or actions to sugar coat ridiculous moral ideas and actions seems very "Orwellian" to me. There is no alternate history and we can't think away historical events and make them unfold differently than they did in reality by removing images, monuments, memorials which were created because of our past.

I don't live in a Utopian or perfect world, I live in this one and while it certainly isn't perfect, we have come a long, long way from where we were decades ago.

For whatever its worth to you, I am a very traveled "military brat" and I have walked past those monuments but they never provoked the anger or hostility in me that they seem to invoke in you. I was always thankful that I wasn't born into a world that treated human beings as anything less than human and grateful for the reminders (monuments and memorials) that as a society we know recognize we are far better than our past.

Let's start at Monument Blvd. in Richmond Va., work south toward Walton County, and take every Confederate memorial down. We can then tow them out in the Gulf and make an artificial reef. Call it Jebby Stuart's fishin spot, or Nathan Bedford Forrest's honey hole. It will mark the first time they ever did any good for our society.

I love this post so much I want to marry it.

Thanks for the intelligent humor. It helps.

You and that post would make the perfect couple. It could also double as your vows and Bob could be the preacher. Jdunn would be the maid of honor I suppose. You would probably want to move far away from Dixie though definitely not Sowal because it is so segregated an all. Congratulations!

Ban the man!

Teresa, your definition of "intelligent humor" and mine are far removed from one another, in this case. IMO, it was anything but!

You have to know Bob to get his humor, I suppose - it's not average by any means, and I don't have to agree with his position to appreciate it. I've known bob for years and never met him, though got to meet his beautiful daughter last year when she stopped in the office to say hello.

Let's get to know Andy.

1. Funniest movie you've ever seen?

2. Your favorite comedian / comedic actor?

3. Favorite comic strip (when they were around)?

4. Your funniest joke?

What I don't quite understand is, with all the talk coming from Andy about courageous Americans defending this United States, and the American flag, why is he defending the Confederacy, which waged war against the United States and the freedoms that have been defended in every other war we waged. The Confederacy stood for treason against the Republic.
