Political signs

New posts
I would think the only way to stop this ridiculous idea would be for both political parties to come together and sweep the county before November 9th.

We are doing our damnedest to have all of our signs up and out of the way by then.

I hear that Bay County has a $200 per sign per day fine for signs left out more than x number of days after the election. Ouch!

They do, it's not this goofy ordinance. It's simply a fine per sign taken down by county workers. I agree with that much more than this deposit and tagging system that was apparently devised with a bong hit and a marathon of Swamp People.

Okaloosa has that same sort of heavy fine rules and it generally helps cut down on the post-election signage.

Though there was the Katherine Harris for Senate sign in the gully in front of the AF museum that lasted for almost a year, probably because none of the county workers wanted to risk snakebite to retrieve it.

Oh come on, she's cute once she puts the makeup on.

Problem with that is you can really get over on a politician, just save up some of their signs and put them back out later.

They reported about it on the news and the county does work with candidates, it's not just a blind charge.

the most creative idea I heard was Jimmy Patronis' idea to pay the football players at one of the local high schools to pick up his signs...the money went to the school...the football department I guess.

Anyway, it was a good way to get the signs up quickly and more creative than just a contribution/donation to the cause...and from what I heard the students seemed excited about the money for the school.

It was for the baseball team. He's spending money like crazy to empty out those coffers, he raised $230,712.00 and only spent $163,921.32 as of October 29,2010. That's an awful lot of money to run against someone who only raised $4,904.00.
