Polka Dot Wasp

[NotDeadYet]

Saw one of these Species Detail | Butterflies and Moths of North America in my yard today, first time I've seen one. I'd post the picture but I failed picture posting 101.
They fly like a helicopter, interesting to see.

They hang around oleaners since the caterpillars feed on the oleander. My neighbor planted oleanders and now our house gets covered with the caterpillars and their brown hairy-looking cocoons.

keep the pets aware from oleanders.... in case any of you werent aware of the risk

Remember - Wasp MOTH - NOT wasp. No stinger. Bug eater. Friend to man and woman.

Here ya go...

Hey NotDeadYet,

I love this wasp moth also and was very excited to see them; they do fly like helicopters. My upload skills aren't the best either but here is a photo I took on 9/11, they are also patriotic.

Cool info...I saw one of those the other day and was impressed with it's beauty! I was afraid it would sting me, however.

I can see this becoming a costume at some point.
Cool MOTH!!

Great picture, thanks for sharing!
I was thinking about going for my camera, but I figured it would be gone by the time I got back.
