I absolutely disagree, but if that were the case, why didn't we probe the arseholes of all the previous presidents?

From what I understand of the situation, there were some questions as to whether or not he was born in the United States. When asked about it early on in the campaign, his campaign management botched the handling of it which brought on more questions. I don't think it's ever been completely finalized. (I could be wrong about that, I haven't followed this meme much myself.)

Is this type of meme really any different than Bush's military records, or the Clinton Whitewater controversy? There's always some sort of scandal the press blow up into something that the other side latches on to.

I was born in Tallahassee Florida at Tallahassee Memorial Hospital, it's now Tallahassee Memorial Regional Medical Center. My birth certificate includes the hospital name and address as well, of course when I renewed my license this past year the woman at the DMV had to ask her supervisor if it was valid. She had never heard of HRS.

I hope that Obama refrains from kowtowing to the birther movement by providing any more information. This would set a bad precedent by calling into question the birth records of a large segment of the population. I happen to have a certified Certificate of Birth with a raised seal from the Bureau of vital statistics from the county where I was born. This would not be good enough for some people if they decided they wanted to be dicks. Every state does things differently, but it looks like the birthers would like to see a federal standard for proof of birth and to hell with state's rights.

Much different. Neither of those things deal with legal qualification standards. In any event, past events are irrelevant to this issue. Also it's not the press that's blowing this up, it's the birthers.

Nope, just visited Canada a lot.

I miss those good old days when you didn't really even have to come to a complete stop at the Ambassador Bridge, much less show documents.

As for the question, yeah I know it, though it's had like three different names since then because of regional consolidations.

Obama was born on United States soil in the state of Hawaii to a legal citizen of the US.

He has a valid birth certificate. He has produced that certificate and it has been verified.

His birth was also announced in the paper of record by the health department as part of their SOP.

If only a FRACTION of this attention was paid to issues that actually matter.

Yep. It's on my birth certificate with complete details. Interestingly, I cannot locate my Father's as birth records were loosely maintained back then in Georgia.
