....on Capitol Hill.Stephen Colbert will testify under solemn oath in character. This circus will cost the tax payer $125,000.00 per hour.
Can't the Congress of the United States of America find something more important to do???

Why don't you organize an anti-Colbert rally and see how many people show up?

He is testifying because he is one of the few Americans who took the United Farm Workers union up on their "Take our Jobs Challenge." And is doing so in conjunction with the president of the union.

125K an hour? If that is anywhere close to accurate, THAT is what I think we should be pissed at - that ANYTHING costs that much!

Very clear to see why congress approval numbers are at the lowest they have ever been.Would you have a problem funding this with your money or others?

I don't have a problem with this topic, but I do with the number you put up for a supposed cost.

The House Judiciary Committee's Subcommittee on Immigration Citizenship, Refugees, Border Security, and International Law hearing testimony on migrant farm workers is something I feel is reasonable.

BCS standings, major league baseball and steriod use, not so much.

Lot of funny quotes coming out of it...

"It turns out ? and I did not know this ? most soil is at ground level," Colbert testified Friday. Also, "It was hotter than I like to be."

"America's farms are presently far too dependent on immigrant labor to pick our fruits and vegetables," he said. "Now the obvious answer is for all of us to stop eating fruits and vegetables and if you look at the recent obesity statistics, you'll see that many Americans have already started."

"This is America," Colbert continued. "I don't want a tomato picked by a Mexican. I want it picked by an American, then sliced by a Guatemalan and served by a Venezuelan in a spa where a Chilean gives me a Brazilian."

Colbert rocks, and also walks the walk, if you know what I mean. He's there, pickin' with the migrants, and nobody has supported the troops in Iraq and Afghan with more gusto than he. He is cool guy #1.

High unemployment and only 4 people (including Colbert) tried one of the 2 million jobs offered up.

As a former agricultural worker (chose that as my summer job instead of the meat packing plant or fast food), I find that amazing. Yes, it's hard hot work, but it's still a paycheck.

Best line!

He made strong points through humor and it was NOT a circus.

He was invited to discuss farm labor issues. He worked on a farm ONE day as one of only 6 who took the challenge (United Farm Workers ?Take Our Jobs? campaign, which challenges US laborers to replace immigrants in the fields).

He even made dems flinch regarding some of them being available come November.

And summed up with: ?I feel that after my testimony both sides here will work for the benefit of America. As you always do,? he deadpanned.
