Beach Fanatic
I was all settled into a little quiet spot where I could hear the waves and just enjoy the natural sounds of the beach when someone came close to me and set up their area with a radio or cd player or whatever - it was music and I could hear it very well. It bummed me out. It has happened twice now. If I were to want to listen to music I would use my earplugs and listen on my phone or other device so as not to intrude.

How do you feel about it and what if you like music on the beach but someone else plays a type you don't like or there are dueling radios?

Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

A very timely poll. Today, I was kayaking out to the Gulf and a big truck set up next to the volleyball net was blaring top 20 music, and I thought it was aweful. No one wants to listen to other random people's tune selection. Let nature be your symphony.

Sorry that happened to you - buzz kill for sure!

So what's a person to do? I guess I could have gathered my things and with a glare lol moved to another spot. :cuss:

Or I could have asked them to plug in their earphones. BUT I would hate to do that - the friction alone would make my hot flashes return.

Amen to the above; nothing better than a group setting up next to you at the beach, blaring radio (even if you like the tunes) and lighting up cigarettes. Ahh, the emerald coast!

They were smoking, but breeze was in my favor

BUT I did see a mess of BUTTS (not by them) while walking. I would like to think that most smokers would bring a can or something to use as butt disposal.

Next question: WHAT do you do if someone starts playing music? Do you move? Glare? Talk to them?

Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

I don't like extraneous noise - I don't want to hear your radio on the beach, your phone beeping/ringtones or stupid conversation anywhere, your car radio shaking my windows, the TV blaring away in restaurants, waiting rooms etc............

But I know many people like music at the beach, so as long as it is at a reasonable level I ignore it - especially when I am at a crowded location like Grayton.

The people who plop down RIGHT NEXT TO YOU on a deserted stretch of sand and blast music are a different story - my solution then is usually to take a long walk or remove myself as odds are considerate folk like that have other habits I will love as well.
