Protecting Camera Equip On The Beach

Hey Kurt or SJ, how do you protect your camera gear when you are snapping pictures on the beach? I want to bring our high $$ camera and lenses, but I'm concerned about sea spray and sand. Any pointers you can share?

Salt and sea spray are a killer!!!! I have spent tons of money on repairs because of this now we usually take a water resistant camera with us - when we want to use the Good Camera (Nikon) we go to the beach - take and pictures and then take it back to the house right away. We have also used baggies in the past to keep the camera dry while caught in a rainstorm etc.

I, too often use this method, but I turn the camera around to "protect the lense" ;-). When a hot chick isn't around, I just keep the camera in my pocket filled with lint and beach sand -- no joke. Ask anyone that knows me. "is that a camera with a big lense in your pocket or are you just happy to see me?"

I use the same method as well, except I always put it in the back. But for some reason, people run from me on the beach.
