Position Overview and Responsibilities:

Camp Helen & Eden Gardens State Parks is looking for a self-motivated park service professional fill an OPS Part time Secretary Specialist position, providing visitor services and administration skills. The applicant must possess strong customer service skills, understand how to work Point of Sale and be able to work independently when required.

This position assists in planning, coordinating, and implementing all administrative
activities involved in park operations. Performs fiscal, purchasing, and budget
tracking duties for park. Maintains computerized budget tracking system and
reconciles with FLAIR. Provides related budget reports to park manager and district.
Assists Park Manager in the planning and administration of park contracts, use
agreements and permits. Processes requisitions, bids, and p-card transactions.

Performs and directs data entry required to maintain park records. Maintains Park
archival and resource files. Performs or directs adjustments to cash register as
needed. Prepares and processes paperwork relating to personnel activities to include
leave and attendance, selection and recruitment, employee relations, and travel.

Develop management reports and summaries for use in making management
decisions and planning park activities, services, and resource management. Monitors
and audits park revenue procedures and related reports. Assists in assuring park
compliance with current division policies, procedures, and programs. Oversees and
assists in training staff in proper administrative procedures and practices. Provides
recommendations to park manager for processes and procedures which will promote
efficiency and simplify park administrative functions. Attends meetings and training
sessions and represents the Park Manager at meetings with division representatives,
other agencies and organizations. Processes technical park correspondence,
investigates subject matter and prepares replies. Park maintains property records.
Performs other related duties as required.

In carrying out the duties of this position, the incumbent is always expected to be
aware of and abide by the Department’s Standards of Conduct, as well as all
departmental and/or work unit rules, directives, policies, procedures, and/or general
orders applicable to performing the duties of this position. Compliance with the
processing requirements of Chapter 215.422, F.S. are mandatory. Persistent failure to
comply with this section by any agency of the state shall constitute good cause for
discharge of employees duly found responsible, or predominantly responsible, for
failure to comply.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

KNOWLEDGE OF:

  • Administrative principles and practices
  • Methods of data collection
  • Principles and techniques of effective verbal and written communications

  • Use of office equipment including computers and related software including Microsoft Office Suite

Minimum Qualifications:

Valid Driver’s License
Successful completion of background screening will be required for this position.

Pay:

$15 an hour

Camp Helen State Park is located in Bay County and is bordered by the Gulf of Mexico and by Lake Powell, the largest coastal dune lake in Florida. This 180-acre park has a recreation area, trail system and prehistoric middens and mounds.

Eden Gardens State Park is in Walton County. The park consists of approximately 163 acres that was part of the Wesley homestead. Ornamental gardens sprinkle the grounds which primarily consist of camellias and azaleas. Picnic pavilions, restrooms, a 1-mile hiking trail, and one rental facility are also located at Eden Gardens. The Park is a very popular spot for weddings, Wesley house tours, picnicking, wildlife viewing and fishing. Resource management activities include invasive/exotic plant removal and cultural resource facility maintenance.
