Why is the Point Washington community so against growth or even redevelopment? Can sowalers get along at all? It is distressing to me to see so much effort on tearing each other down and not building a strong relationship within our community.

We need to come to gether and express our desires for our future without attacking each other. We need a united front to give the government agencies our views and hold them to it.

The comprehensive plan is weak at best. Has any of our hopes been conveyed in that document? The staus quo will not do. Lets come together and help explain our wishes for the area and community. As always we must ask for some accountability of our officials.

I carry on this way because If we do not address issues in a forthright manner they linger and are allowed to hold us back.

just think about it.

I was speaking of the county and the updating of the comprehensive plan and zoning code. I heard that the pt. pwashington people were upset and wished to have height restriction reduced to 40 feet.

the main point is that we get involved with the county more.

Please excuse me for being the slow kid, but I am still not getting it. Can you humor me and define the words in bold above? What people exactly and why is it a problem to not have houses in your neighborhood that are over 4 stories?

Citeright, the proposed height and, hopefully one day, density restriction is only for what most of us would call "downtown" Point Washington - basically, from the area of Bay Elementary north to Tucker Bayou. It does not include the White family's property or the Morgan family's property. It does not include Eden Estates, or Eden's Landing. It does not include my home, or my neighbors. The reason the homeowners in that area want a change in the comp plan is because we/they believe Point Washington is one of the few, special, historical places left in South Walton and they, and the people who love Point Washington, want to protect it from further irresponsible development, such as the Oaks at Eden, the monstrosity my church is building on the west side of 395 :roll:, and the sprawl up and down most of our 26 miles of beach.

And I'll go ahead and say it, at the risk of having arrows shot into my butt...nobody is against the Montessori School, for being a school. Lord knows our children need all the opportunities they can get. What bothered most of the folks who were rumored to be against it was the way it "slid" through County planning (and, of course, then they needed to cut trees :bang:). The scary part is that one day, Montessori will again outgrow the space - and since a change of use designation is already in place, what is to prevent a different type of less desirable establishment from opening in its place?

Lastly...Point Washington does not need to be "redeveloped." It is perfect the way it is.

:bow::clap:

Thank you.... and as far as I can tell most of us PT.Washington (downtown AND west PT.Washinton) do get along. For those that desire a community of super stuctures and those over 40' along side their businesses...maybe you need to find a place that does encourage that type of development/re-development and stop trying to change a historic area.
