Please plan to attend an important public forum on Smart Growth in Walton County sponsored by the South Walton Community Council.
It will be held on Wednesday, May 15th at 6:30 pm in the Emerald Coast Association of Realtors training room located at 6757 Highway 98, Suite 202 (blue office building on the south, just west of the Donut Hole).
The forum will feature presentations by Tallahassee based 1000 Friends of Florida, a statewide nonprofit organization founded in 1986 to help build better communities and save special places.
President Paul Owens will review two studies prepared by the University of Florida; one on Florida 2070 and one on Walton County 2070. Policy and Planning Director Thomas Hawkins will discuss principles of growth management, applicable laws, and opportunities for citizen participation.
And finally, local attorney Steve Hall will present his proposal for a collaborative approach to land development. These are critical issues that impact all permanent residents, second homeowners, and local businesses and we urge you to join us.
