Racist Anti-Mosquers

New posts
The fact that you think the board is left leaning or that we should use the word bigot instead of racist does not change the fact that I think my fellow Americans are behaving in a completely irrational and inappropriate manner.

And that race and religion are the root of the issue, not any valid concerns.

Too late for me to edit the thread title, but that doesn't radically alter my view of this mob. I stick with the moron label, although they might be idiots or imbeciles, I'm not too sure.

I do not disagree with you at all! My vote is that they are all of the above.

They threatened him with physical violence simply for being a human being. Mob mentality, which it seems has snared many on this board, is no excuse. This is absolutely shameful behavior.

They? All I saw was one man get in his face and a bunch of camerapeople descend on a few people. You're making it sound like they chased the man down the street and stoned him. They weren't chanting kill the Arab, simply no mosque here and that was even before the confrontation. They weren't burning effigies of Arabs and there wasn't a riot. It's New York and a lot worse probably happened across town that had nothing to do with a mosque; or is that the problem, it's New York?

I'm an independent. I want strong, affordable health care and education for my fellow citizens. I also have issues with illegal immigration and you'll pry my guns from my cold, dead hands, but I don't believe that arguing someones rights to build on their property what they want as long as it confirms to zoning and local laws to be a left leaning trait.

This issue should have stayed in the community where it is located and not used as a political football to get everyone geared up before the elections and I don't think that can be stuck on the left's score card. IMHO, both sides need to stfu and let the community that this impacted the most, deal with it, instead of letting the talking heads divide us even more as this thread is evidence of. Now, I'm going to stfu and go outside and pull some weeds or something.

So you think maybe this is just kind of an attitude problem indigenous to NY?? I wouldn't know, but if that's the case, it's no excuse.

It's the same old argument, if your a liberal and they don't agree with you..............THEY'RE RACIST!!!
you are racist if you defend pro racist policies or rationalize racist behavior, this nation was built on racism, and fights it's elimination.

You really don't see the racism? They see someone who looks a little different and they make assumptions and proceed to violate his civil rights. I'd be embarrassed by anybody who tried to make a Christian feel like they have no place in this society and initiated physical threats against them and/or disturbed his peace. This is akin to pure teabaggery at its most vile.

Palin has been made fun of for her strong religious belief...have also heard sneers about Bush's strong faith...folks questioned Romney on his faith, even Kennedy took a hit because he was Catholic. Obama avoids attending church and he takes hits. Obama even made fun of folks with their religion and guns. Not a result of teabaggery my friend...wrong on that one....more like fear, and anger and frustration. Perhaps, unless you lost someone or lived through the attack on 9-11 in your own backyard you could understand this frustration ... I wouldn't be surprised if this was a set up for a you tubing moment.

I don't know about you, but I think intolerance and lack of understanding are the defining qualities of racism. It's just as bad I think. Well, actually I think they are one and the same. I'm not trying to create pariahs, I'm saying it's just plain wrong. The more thoughtful among us have an obligation to put a stop to this.

If that is really how you feel, maybe you need Webster's help, because they are not one in the same. I know people who are intolerant and lack understanding of the opposite sex, but that doesn't make them racist.
