Rant

Hey ya'll I am Liz. I have not really posted or even been able to read a lot. I have a rant that is just getting to me and I couldn't think of a better place to get it off my mind.

The past few weeks I kept getting messages from the School District about my children. I withdrew my children from public school to homeschool in November. Apparently at the High School they had him marked as truant. Well, my son has not been to school since November. They just now noticed that he wasn't there? Is it just me or this a little scary? 3 months????? Ok I feel a little better. I am not trying to start a fight or debate, I would just love to know what other people think about it!

I told the resource officer that either, they have so many truants at SWHS that they can't keep up or whoever takes care of their attendance is overworked. Ugh I hate things like this!!!!!

Is there a formal withdrawal procedure? Or have you talked to the district office in DeFuniak? I have always found them to be helpful.

There is a formal withdrawal procedure and there is surely another side to this story.

I can top that. We moved from Gulf Shores to sowal at the end of Jr. Critter's 8th grade year. Went to office, said we were moving, requested records for new school, etc. Completed freshman year at sowal, then 3-4 months into sophomore year, I get a call from a Gulf Shores friend who was an emergency contact on Jr. Critter's file. School is trying to contact me to see if we moved. Um. . . . yeah.

I'm waiting for the answer to jdarg's question.

Me too.

Earlier this year I was investigating whether a couple of missed assignments coincided with the week Squirt missed two days of school with a fever, and the nice lady who tracks the attendance at SWHS (love ya Kim) was able to confirm for me the days he was absent, and it took her all of 15 seconds.

Homeschooling is great, if you are able to do it, but November is an awfully strange time of year to withdraw. JMHO.
