Catholic leaders, two dozen bishops of the Episcopal Church, the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America and the United Methodist Church as well as members of the 100,000-plus online community Faithful America have issued letters and petitions stating that the budget lacks compassion and is an affront to Christian values.

wonder where the Baptists are...?

all I can say, is it's about time--I have long wondered how the religious leaders could sit by and let some of this continue...and I am even more puzzled by the people like James Dobson who contribute to the problem, while at the same time claiming to support compassionate and caring values ...the hypocrisy really is disgusting.

Because they are followers not leaders. As long as the collection plate stays full with enough money to build more and more tax free mini cities they will keep their mouths shut.

What is immoral is continuing to steal from our grandchildren by recklessly borrowing money and throwing it away. Maybe the baptist leaders have figured this out.

The Ryan plan won't take Medicare away from us seniors--just from our children & grandchildren!

The plan attempts to provide a sustainable form of Medicare for my generation and those coming behind us. In its present form it cannot be sustained. You can stick your head in the sand all you like, but the results will still be the same. If we do nothing it will collapse.

They aren't criticizing fiscal responsibility, they are criticizing a plan that hurts the poor and rewards the rich.

What we need are across the board austerity measures like Great Britain - EVERYONE sacrifices, not just those without good lobbyists.

SB44, have you ever lived in Britain under their health plan? I have and I can say I seriously doubt you would like it. Rep. Paul Ryan has presented a plan. He has said it is a "starting point". Where's the President's plan? Where's the Democrat plan? Where's their budget? Some need to forget the idealism for at least a short period and get real! We are facing a fiscal and social disaster and anyone who thinks it is only due to one party or the other is not keeping up with local, national or global events.
My generation may have made a mess of things according to some but I don't think so. It, and the one preceeding it, created the most comfortable, progressive era every known to man. I don't see it being continued for those following me as so many refuse to accept the realities of life. So sad.

I am not talking about their health care plan - I am talking about their recent budget, which is getting widespread approval because while people dislike that they are giving things up/taking pay cuts, they at least feel it is fair because EVERYONE has to do it.
