Religious Leaders call GOP Budget Immoral...

I'm not sure what cuts are planned for WIC, but I have long felt the ease of obtaining formula for low income moms is inappropriate. Good science demonstrates that babies do better overall when they are raised at least six months on breastmilk. For whatever reason many (if not most) 'poor' moms never make an attempt to breast feed. What a short, medium and long term economic relief it would be if there was more breast feeding and less formula use among all moms, especially the 'poor' who utilize public healthcare dollars.
I understand some moms simply can't, and those babies should get formula, but only after an honest attempt is made.

Here is where the education you and I both have posted about comes in...and yet, education dollars, especially for poor people, have been drastically cut in all areas.

They aren't criticizing fiscal responsibility, they are criticizing a plan that hurts the poor and rewards the rich.

What we need are across the board austerity measures like Great Britain - EVERYONE sacrifices, not just those without good lobbyists.

How exactly does the Ryan Medicare plan hurt the poor and reward the rich?

I think it would be great to promote breast feeding over formula, but there are many factors (including whether or not the mother actually can - close to 40% can't) that make this difficult.

Speaking of getting real-

I flat out refuse to take seriously anyone's plan for fixing the economy, the deficit and our debt who refuses to support letting the TEMPORARY Bush tax cuts expire.

How exactly does the Ryan Medicare plan hurt the poor and reward the rich?

His plan wants to give even greater tax cuts to the wealthy by up to 10%, in addition to that, cut the corporate tax rate significantly. It doesn't take rocket science to see beanie weanies in many people's future to buy health insurance in addition to the Medicare.

From Ryan's web page with his Plan:
- Simplifies tax rates to 10 percent on income up to $100,000 for joint filers, and $50,000 for single filers; and 25 percent on taxable income above these amounts. Also includes a generous standard deduction and personal exemption (totaling $39,000 for a family of four).
- Eliminates the alternative minimum tax [AMT].
- Promotes saving by eliminating taxes on interest, capital gains, and dividends; also eliminates the death tax.
- Replaces the corporate income tax – currently the second highest in the industrialized world – with a border-adjustable business consumption tax of 8.5 percent. This new rate is roughly half that of the rest of the industrialized world.
So based on 2011 tax rates, if you earn over $139K, your taxes would go down 3%, over 212.3K would go down 8%, over $379K, a whopping 10%.

It wasn't enough that we allowed the Bush tax cuts to stand, he wants them even lower, not a little, much lower.
