Relocation & rambling about this and that!

Hi all just wanted to say hello my husbands job was relocated to this area from Louisiana where I was born and raised- my kids are jr high/high school age and this is a wonderful community--the more I learn the more I love it!

We are in a rental house that is partially furnished and would make due for short window of time (to get my kids in school and search for a long term home to lease or purchase)

I have two Old English Sheepdogs who are hoping we find home with a big yard like our house in LA which we are going to keep and lease to a family member--wondeirng if anyone here has ever moved their rose bushes? I grow roses and I miss that hard work I think much more than I thought I would!

Just wanted to say hello and say how thankful I am to be here where folks are truly kind and helpful and the landscape is God's best work if you ask me!

I am loving the peace here to paint and create in between the panic of realizing how much I have to do each day!

If anyone has ideas on affordable homes with yards in this area that are available for long term lease/lease purchase please let me know!

I am also wondering if there is a local swim team for kids? Swimming programs close by?

What other youth programs might ya'll be aware of? Arts, sports, etc.?

Well thanks bunches and looking forward to seeing ya'll around in our new hometown.

Good swim teams at Frank Brown Park in Panama City Beach and the YMCA in Destin. Check the long term rental forum for a place.

I have successfully moved rose bushes before...not to this location, though. The soil is very different here, so roses take lots of potting soil. When I moved them before, they did well...only lost one.

Here, I am having some success with roses, they bloom well, but do not grow as fast as in other climates. Probably someone who knows more than I do can help you...we have wonderful gardening folks around here--but, as one who loves roses, I am happy with the ones I have been able to grow here.

Welcome -- this is the best place to live.:welcome:
