Restaurants in Georgia reopening next Monday.

New posts
I stand with all of our local restaurants and businesses. Every restaurant is unique in what they can do in this pandemic. All are hard working and take seriously their responsibility to employees and community. Our restaurants are outstanding businesses and I'm proud of them.

Some well established restaurants have closed temporarily while they are helping to support their employees in different ways. And a surprising number of restaurants have revised their entire operation to meet the challenges of takeout and delivery, online ordering and new menus that work well in this challenging time.

I've been in touch with dozens of restaurants to find out what they are doing. Some are helping feed people who can't afford food. Some have given me their personal cell phone numbers to pass on to anyone who needs help right now. This is who they are. Always.

I love our community and our restaurants and respect their decisions on staying open or closing. Every one of them is doing their best. They will be back. And we may lose a few. We see new restaurants opening every year along with several closures. We will see changes in restaurants as some may close. But whatever may happen, I also think that restaurants will change some parts of how they serve the community in permanent ways. Such as more delivery.

Interesting to note that I did not see any restaurants willing to reopen, today. All of the businesses around Marietta Square released statements that they would not open until they felt it was safe. None of the fast food places I passed had opened their dining rooms, either.

Apparently, there are some smart folk out there...

And praying for PPP checks.
