Rick Scott is trying to kill Citizen's Insurance

New posts
Not sinkhole folks. The sinkhole issues are generally north of Tampa, not south, and the lack of insurance alternatives goes back past the current sinkhole insurance problems.

When we purchased in 2003 the Allstate agent said Citizens was the only insurer they had for us to insure with. We are just within 1/2 mile of beach at a relatively high elevation. Last year Citizens was trying to get rid of customers to Southern Oaks Insurance ? (another associated w/state I presume..?). They transferred a lot of policies to this smaller insurance company. We are pretty far up a dune off of Allen Loop and are not in flood zone and are well under 1 MM. :idontno:

I have since found some small companies that will insure us.

I recently switched from Allstate after they jacked my rates up and did not have any trouble getting quotes. I went with the lowest offer from most reputable Florida based insurance company. They matched my rate from Allstate before the rate hike. I think you just need to find a good agent.
