a friend of mine brought his children over yesterday while he had to go on maneuvers to help during hurricane Rita. they wanted to play their new game 'runescape' on my computer. it was a free online game and seemed pretty harmless being an anicent rpg type with crafting and so forth. d*** thing was full of spyware. my anti-spyware saw it and removed it, but the evil 'runescape' program (they indeed clicked the Yes button to allow it to be installed) had not just added their evil spyware drivers but had replaced the standard keyboard and monitor drivers with the evil spyware ones. so when the anti-virus and spyware removal came along and killed the bad drivers, it effectively removed the keyboard and screen from the computer! couldn't see or type to fix anything! needless to say, the reload took forever. next time they come we're all going to take the 3 hour drive to the beach regardless of a hurricane happening right then or not! grrrrrr!
