He should have been married! That would have saved him from the roaches. It worked for Merman.We were on a big road trip shortly after being married and stopped somewhere in South Carolina and the motel was just like that one in PC. It was late; we were tired and Merman would have stayed but I took one look at all the little creatures and said no way. Merman told the clerk with a straight face "My wife won't let me." He got his money back. ;-)

Personally, I would be more concerned with the bedspreads and rat pooh than the roaches.

Back in the late 70's the chateau was smokin!!
Our entire hs stayed there and had a blast! don't recall the roaches but I bet there's a large community there these days1

Even the good hotels are pretty disgusting. Did anyone else see that Dateline NBC episode several years ago when they took a blacklight into hotels at different price levels? The bedspreads were universally disgusting. When I had to travel for business and didn't have much control over where I stayed, I'd just take the bedspread off the bed, wash my hands, and call down for fresh blankets. A few hotels have started using white duvets...I try to only stay in those places now.

Last year, my co-worker stayed in a fairly nice Hampton Inn when she went to Daytona...upon checkout, they opened the nightstand to ensure they were not leaving anything and discovered a previous guest's condoms...USED...
Not just one; a pile of them. Next to the Gideon Bible. :shock:
Now it's a funny story, which is why she finally shared it with us, but at the time...
