We took our two visiting grandkids to see Star Wars this afternoon.

In spite of the weather, we had a great time. But, in the dark and rain on the way home, I heard a pop and a thump and immediately lost my power steering. That made steering hard but I knew there was more to come.

Within two minutes, my temperature gauge started to move towards the red and I had to pull to a stop.

I called Paradise Taxi and David saved the day! He was there within ten minutes and took all of us home safely.

Thank you David and Paradise Taxi. (850) 200-2258

So I'm guessing your serpentine belt broke?

Yes, it was the serpentine belt.

I limped to John-John today and they fixed it while I waited. That's the good part.

They charged me 45 for the belt and 115 to replace it! I asked about the labor of 115 for a 15 minute job thinking that it must be a mistake. No such luck....

I thanked them for squeezing me in and the repair and left surprised and disappointed.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all...

JJ charges a lot for small jobs and routine maintenance. For $300.00 plus jobs they seem more reasonable. If it's something you could do yourself, don't go there. I was lucky last time I broke my belt I was able to get the car back to my house. You don't always have that option.

Some shops have a minimum labor charge which explains why big jobs seem more reasonable. Is that the case here?

I used to do most of my own repair work. It is very hard to find a good shop with competitive prices. After trying out a a couple of local shops, including John John, I settled on Frimet over in PCB. Very knowledgeable mechanics and good prices.
