SayCheezZ is in the Seaside Farmers Market news today...
New Kids on the SFM Block
Today, more and more people are re-locating to the Emerald Coast permanently after having vacationed here. Raf and Bea (short for Beatrice) Slim of SayCheezZ, LLC are no exception. The Slims, who trekked to South Walton from Houston to enjoy beach vacations here, had careers in the oil industry, which they enjoyed and learned from. But it was the tiresome structure of corporate life that motivated the couple to change their life’s direction. The result? SayCheezZ.
Raf, an Egyptian native, came to the U.S. when he was 13 years old. His Brazilian wife, Bea, introduced him to the typical Brazilian breakfast and snack food, pão de quejo (pronounced: pow di KAY-ju), which means cheese bread in Portuguese. It is also popular in Bolivia, Paraguay and in Northern Argentina.
Cognizant of their own food sensitivities as well as to the pervasiveness of gluten allergies today, the Slims gave a modern twist to the Brazilian breakfast treat in creating their version of this traditional cheese roll. SayCheezZ snacks, equally tasty with a cup of Joe in the morning or paired as an appetizer with a glass of wine in the evening, are gluten free and made with the highest quality, local and organic ingredients available. Everything from the eggs and milk to the cheese and oil used in their recipes is organic.
SayCheezZ produces its snack treats in a dedicated, gluten-free, 3,000-square-foot facility in Grayton Beach (next to Sherwin Williams). The decision to make their production facility dedicated means that there is no risk of cross contamination of gluten from the manufacture of any other baked products. There’s even a tasting room so that they can educate customers about how to prepare and serve SayCheezZ finger food, which comes frozen or pre-baked for warming.
Making anything baked so that it is light and fluffy can be a challenge even for the best baker. But SayCheezZ has accomplished just that with its CheezZ (plain), Sundried Tomato and Bacon cheese rolls. The Slims set out to develop and sell ahealthy food concept, keep the business laid back and boutique-like in nature and enjoy their new journey. Stop by the stand at Seaside Farmers Market, smile and SayCheezZ!
