Seagrove Forum

Last evening's forum at the Simple Faith Church in Seagrove appeared to be the most widely attended yet, at least in South Walton during this campagin season. Wow!
The issues covered were very enlightening to all.
One question though, anyone know why Mr. Hudson and Mrs. Jones chose not to attend?

JohnR told me it was great- but I wish more candidates could have attended. I wonder if the weather had something to do with that, since I know my family didn't attend as we had planned on being in the house with the kids, "hunkering down" for the storm.

Very good forum! Thank God that Little Amavida was there for Quinn to play with. She's had to sit through her share of politics this summer. We definitely need more of these in SoWal.

On a different note, thanks to Raw & Juicy and Amavida for the snacks and drinks. My wife missed her beloved morning mango iced tea from Amavida yesterday morning and they had a cooler on hand.

There was an event in Miramar that several candidates had already committed too.

I'm supporting Alan Osborne

Last night's candidate forum for the District 5 commission seat was great, though only two candidates--Sid Braunstein and Alan Osborne--showed-up. Both candidates seem like very honest, decent people, and either one would probably serve us well.

But I'm supporting Osborne--he seems like the guy who can best stand-up to those--whether they're developers, business-people, or citizens--who want to push things that are not in the best interest of Walton County. His own epic battle with a bad developer and an uncaring County Commission (exception of Cindy Meadows) in order to protect his neighborhood is something we can all respect and honor. It's the classic case of the average guy fighting for what is right for his community, and for that and the character and commitment he has shown, he has my vote.

What event in Miramar? Why was it not posted in SOWAL or any other media?
I was at the Fish Fry today in Defuniak Larry Jones hosted ( a lot of fun and very gracious of him to do) and the word was Mrs. Jones was in Alabama last night.

I made a decision based on committments that were made almost 2 months ago. This was not a public event but a private event by a supporter. They both began at the same time 5:30. I notified the contact person of my prior committment. I am sorrry that he did not notify those in attendance of my conflict. I was not invited to attend until the 19th of August.

There have been many "events" conducted for candidates that have been held and not announced here because they were not "public events".

I have copied my email to Arix below:

Arix:

I failed to review my calendar when I initially responded that I would attend this forum. In my schedule I now have 2 major functions that are at exactly the same time tonight. I must choose between the two and due to the fact that I committed to a function at Grand Dunes prior to discovering that you were having a "forum".

This function starts at 5:30 as well. I am unsure of when it will be over due to the candidates that are scheduled to be there and my position in the order of speaking. If I can exit early I will make every attempt to arrive at your forum but it will be later than your start.

I express my apology for initially stating that I would be present, but it was my error and I accept the responsibility for double booking an event.

Bob Hudson
