My son (first child) tried to come at 27 weeks. I was dilated at 3. I had to go on bed rest and take breathine (tributaline) for almost 2 months. I also had to take steroid shots to help development of his lungs in case he did come. It was scary. The doctors can really do alot these days to help in pre labor situations. I hope all goes well. Please keep us informed. I know she must be scared.

Prayers being said, and thanks for letting us know. Sue and Mermaid, please keep us updated!

GTTBM's daughter is right at 33 weeks along, and the doctors said they'd like her to make it to 34, that they'd feel much better about that. So let's all pray for an extra precious week for this child!

With prayers and thoughts from so many people from so many different places, this baby has a lot going for her/him! GTTBM- we are thinking of you and your family.

gttbm needs our prayers and good vibes. Her daughter, expecting their first grandchild, has gone into premature labor in Atlanta. I spoke with her early this morning as she and gttbd were on their way to the hospital. She is understandably distraught, but will be a great comfort to everyone. Please send your prayers and positive thoughts wherever you deem best. I know she will feel blessed to know her SoWal family is with her at this time. God Bless you gttbm and family. We are here for you.
Honey, I've been there. I went into labor at 26 weeks (which back then was unviable) just after Christmas shopping at Neiman's and stayed in the hospital for 2 months in Atlanta. My husband did the 1-hour commute each way every day to visit me and spent the night on a chair in my hospital room. I was on so much anticontraction drugs that my hands shook too badly to feed myself, and occasionally I started showing signs of pulmonary edema (a side-effect of Yutopar) so they'd have to put me in intensive care. My doctor, Jose Garcia, would stay with me until I got out of intensive care. My Mom brought my birthday dinner (December 22) to the hospital. Jose hoped that I could go to Mom's house in Atlanta for Christmas Day, but I was too unstable, so my Mom brought Christmas dinner with china, crystal, and sterling silver to the hospital, along with a Christmas tree.

My spoiled child at GA Tech (previously at MIT) is a result of all of the prayers and all of this effort - my husband, my Mom, Dr. Garcia, my cousin Brenda, President Walter Murphy's visits, and others. Thank you all.

BTW the stress of it all was so bad on my Mom that she developed Bell's palsy, and her face was paralyzed for 6 months.

So I pray so hard for gttbm's daughter.

I went to my first Lamaze class and everyone was at 30 weeks. There was a girl there that was a lot bigger than the rest of us and we were all at week 30. The next week she wasn't there and our teacher told us that she had delivered! It scared us all to death, we couldn't believe it. Come to find out she had twins! AND didn't know she was going to have twins. The babies had to stay in the hospital for a few weeks but everyone was fine.
Thinking positive thoughts for gttbm's daughter. I'm sure she is really afraid too.

Gentle thoughts & heartfelt prayers for this mother, baby, and the entire family. We've lived through this with our daughter in 2004 in Atlanta, so we know exactly what you're going through.
Twenty four years ago our dear friends had a baby girl at 26 weeks. Today that same beautiful girl, Laura (we call her our miracle baby) is a social worker & just this week delivered a healthy, full term baby girl!
God bless all of you.

My mom had to do the bed rest thing at Piedmont Hospital for a long time too, because of high blood pressure during pregnancy, and I came out 11lbs and 24 inches long. Nevertheless, my prayers are with her.
