Is it typical for there to be SO MANY sharks this close to shore as there seems to be this year? Does it have something to do with the gulf hurricanes and disturbed food supplies?
Cool. There have been lots of schools of fish jumping out of the water, close to shore. I heard they were being chased by tarpon, so maybe that's why the sharks are coming in closer? When we were on the kayak, the schools surrounded us. I was hoping to see something bigger, but nothing. Perhaps we scared the bigger fish/sharks away. I even went out to the second sandbar hoping to see a fin, anything, but nothing. We did see from shore a sea cow several times, on different days.
