Shoo Mamas

We finally made it by Shoo Mama's last night and had a wonderful meal.

Let me start by stating that this is in no way fine dining, but with that in mind that food was very good. It's simple, down home, southern style seafood.

We started with a dozen raw which were salty, cold, and delicious. My only comment would be that if two people are sharing you need to bring small plates.

For the main course I had the seafood platter with grilled fish, fried oysters, sauteed shrimps, sauteed scallops, and pan fried crab cakes with a loaded baked potato on the side and replaced the coleslaw with collard greens. I must say that any restaurant that will replace a side without a fuss always gains a point in my book. The food was prepared correctly and tasted fresh, the crab cake was especially good although serving it on a bed of lettuce is a little odd.

DS had the Rajun Cajun pasta which was chicken, shrimp, and andouille sausage with pasta, veggies, and a cream sauce. I'd like to say that the grilled rye bread was good, but I wasn't offered any of that.

Although the home made desserts sounded great we were just too stuffed for any, but we will definitely try them next time.

Good fish tacos

I wish the fish tacos were served with cabbage (traditional), but very tasty in their own way. Fried shrimp looked nice too. Good price point, dinner for two about 30.00.

We ate there last night and our meal was great! Lots of choices depending on your mood- seafood, burgers, pasta, salads.

We had the potato boats- real homemade potato skins, not Sysco, lots of cheese and bacon. I had the house salad with grilled chicken and green apple vinaigrette and it was perfect for a hot day, plus the grilled chicken was so good it could have stood on it's own. Bdarg had the Caesar, but I didn't get a taste as it was all gone. Kate had the kid's grilled chicken- same yummy chicken as mine (and she finished it of for lunch today), and JohnR had an impressive looking burger with lots of toppings and sweet potato soup that was so fantastic but more like a dessert. Topped it off with Kate's choice of key lime pie made like I love it- thick, buttery, very firm and almost crunchy graham cracker crust and not too tart filling. Yup, all gone.

Went home and went to bed.

I should know this, where is it? It sounds wonderful and I just finished dinner.
