SJ, tomato update please

New posts
Even if you keep pinching it, cilantro goes to seed quite fast.
What helps is to just establish a little patch where it can do its thing, sort of like arugula.
Some herbs seem kind of stubborn. They won't grow where you want them to; instead they pick cracks in the sidewalk or some such thing. Dill can be like that.

SJ: Remember that basil is supposed to keep mosquitos and maybe other bugs away -- something new for your bug potion. (maybe it will work with some of the sand fleas or flies at the beach)

I have used basil in some of my bath and beauty products and insect repellants, but it doesn't repel well compared to some other things. However, if you have an insect sting/bite or a sore spot on your skin, break open a basil leaf and rub it onto your skin at the particular spot. It will stop the itch, and heal the sore. ;-)

What we call Sand Fleas here at the beach are not the true Sand Fleas. We use "Sand Fleas" as bait to fish for Pompano. :funn:

My plants loved the rain last night, our first in over two dry and dusty months. :clap_1:

Thanks. I just planted my zucchini seeds under a grow light in the basement. I'll put them out the third week of May here in pots on the back deck. I'll buy tomato plants, though.

I have more too. Quite a few on the Yellow Pear plant, just one on the Celebrity. SJ, are you close to the beach? We are, and I worry about the occasional gusty breezes. But I guess they're doing okay.
